OUR COUNCIL'S CONTINGENT

To attend the Jamboree, Scouts must register and be part of our Council’s Contingent, which is a just group of Scouts and Scouters from the Greater Alabama Council. Planning and preparation will happen through this contingent. The group will travel together via a chartered bus, camp together, eat together, go to shows together, and experience the Jamboree together. Based on the number of youth that register, our Council’s contingent will be split into smaller groups which we call troops. These troops will be no more than 16 Scouts and at least 4 adult leaders. Scouts will be placed into patrols within their Troop.

HOW TO REGISTER

Registration for the Jamboree is as easy as registering for summer camp!

To register for the Jamboree, go to Tentaroo and select “2026 National Scout Jamboree”

Your Scouting America Membership registration MUST be current and your member ID number must be linked in the profile of the registrant’s my.scouting.org account. To complete your registration you MUST complete the required disclosures that will be e-mailed to you.

AGE REQUIREMENTS: The jamboree is open to youth ages 12 and up who meet the participant qualifications on a first come first serve basis. All Venturers or Sea Scouts must be currently registered in a Venturing Crew or Sea Scout Ship and meet the respective age requirements.

SAFEGUARDING YOUTH TRAINING REQUIREMENT: All adult leaders and youth who turn 18 years of age during the National Jamboree must take the Safeguarding Youth Training no later than March 15, 2026.  Failure to do so will cause delays and issues with the individual’s registration and participation in the Jamboree.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NOTE: Registration is solely on a first-come, first-registered basis.  Spots cannot be guaranteed or held in reserve.

TRAVEL

The 2026 National Jamboree will begin on Wednesday, July 22, and run through Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. Our contingent will travel via Charter Bus with our departure dates to and from the Summit being determined in late 2025. It is approximately a 10 hour bus ride to the Summit.

PREPARATION

After you have register you will need to attend a few important meetings including an orientation and training outing on April 24-26, 2026 at Camp Jackson. Additional meetings will be scheduled and e-mailed out to all the participants. Scouts will need to complete a Jamboree specific medical form signed by a licensed physician and indicating compliance with specified immunizations. We will provide more information as the event gets closer.

GEAR & EQUIPMENT

The Greater Alabama Council will be purchasing tents and duffle bags for contingent members to use at the Jamboree.  Participants will receive a day pack from the Jamboree that they can use while at the Jamboree.
A personal gear packing list will be provided to contingent members during pre-shakedown outing meetings.

ADULT LEADERSHIP

Our Council’s Jamboree Committee has completed the recruitment and selection process of identifying Adult Leaders for our three troops (two troops for boys, and one troop for girls) as well as for key support team members.  More information on our Jamboree team will be coming soon.

CAMPERSHIPS & FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The National Jamboree Committee has developed camperships (scholarships) for youth participants to assist in the cost of attending the Jamboree.  Scholarships can only be applied to the cost of the Jamboree Fee ($1,285 until Oct. 31st, and $1,500 Nov. 1st and after).  To apply for a campership, the parents/guardians of youth should fill out the campership application for their youth participant. To apply for a National Jamboree Campership, the application process can be completed through the National Jamboree Registration System, not the Council Contingent Registration System.  Campership applications should be submitted no later than as stated on the campership application portal.  Applicants will be notified via email if a campership has been awarded. Changes to the campership application are not permitted once submitted.

There are two remaining application rounds remaining for consideration for camperships for the National Jamboree.  These application round deadlines are:

October 31, 2022 (Selection Notification Date: December 15, 2022)
