Trailblazer Program for new Scouts!

The Greater Alabama Council is proud offer an amazing Scouts BSA Winter Camp Program for your Scouts. Winter Camp is similar to Scouts BSA Summer Camp, except that it occurs during the winter holidays and is a few days shorter. The weeklong camp begins just after Christmas and ends at noon on New Year’s Eve, so Scouts can make it home for the festivities.

The camp offers a variety of merit badges, many that are not offered during the summer. For younger Scouts, our Camp’s Trailblazer program will help them work toward earning 1st Class Rank. The staff is mainly adult volunteers who work hard to provide great afternoon program activities, campfires, and much more. Winter camp is a great way to augment your unit’s program and ensure your Scouts are receiving a mountain-top experience.

  • When you arrive, after check-in, you can drive to your campsite to easily unload your gear (no hiking).
  • Water is available at the Dining hall and Shower houses. Make sure to bring a water bottle!
  • Restroom and shower facilities with on-demand hot water can be found in two shower houses conveniently located near campsites.
  • Camp Comer has a top-notch Medic Lodge located in the heart of camp to assist with any medical needs.
  • Our Adult leader Lounge has Fiber WiFi.
  • Meals are served cafeteria-style in our Dining Hall.
  • If a Scout or adult needs some extra help to enjoy the camp experience, please let us know! This includes anyone with special dietary, health, mobility, or CPAP battery needs.
