The year was 1972. The Birmingham Area Council, guided by a visionary board, opened a new path to adventure and opportunity for Scouts and Scouters. Camp Sequoyah was introduced to youth and families across our area as an outdoor education center. There was no dining hall, cell service or wi-fi in the beginning. However, the early campfires burned just as brightly in the eyes of Scouts who dared to adventure and have climbed to heights unimaginable throughout their lives. Throughout 2022, we will celebrate 50 years of Scouting at the Frank Spain Scout Reservation, home of Camp Sequoyah and Land of 1,000 Dreams.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family on June 18, 2022, as we mark this monumental milestone in the life of one of the most legendary Scout Camps in the Southeast.
