OLS Training

Boy Scout Outdoor Training or Outdoor Leader Skills (OLS) weekend session will be taught November 1-3, 2013 at Camp Sequoyah in Delta, AL, starting Friday November 1st at 6:00 pm and concluding on Sunday November 3rd at 2:00 p.m. This session involves a great deal of learning in the field, rather than in a class room setting. Emphasis will be on learning practical Scouting skills that will prepare you to lead an outdoor scouting experience for your troop. This weekend has always proven to be fun, exciting, and very important in discovering what the “Scouting Spirit” is all about. The fee for the OLS session is $20.00, which includes all materials for this session. The registration deadline for this OLS session is Sunday, October 27th, 2013.

Outdoor Leadership Skills for Boy Scout and Webelos Leaders: 9:00 AM Saturday11:00 AM Sunday

Provides Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters and Webelos Leaders the confidence and skills they need to lead scouts in overnight and weekend camping/scouting activities. SM’s and ASM’s will also be required to complete Scoutmaster-Specific Leader Training before they can be considered fully “Trained”. Topics covered in OLS/OWLS training: (not all listed) fire making, camp selection, cooking, camp hygiene/safety, backpacking, map/compass skills, knots/lashings, nature studies, etc. WE WILL BE CAMPING OUT!

Bring: Sleeping bag, tent (if you have one), flashlight, water bottle, personal toiletries, clothing for sleeping/comfort (generally, anything that you would carry on an overnight campout), small backpack or bag for carrying small amount of material, Pen and paper, your uniform (if you have one), and a smile! Lunch and Dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday will be prepared and covered by your registration fee.
