Wood Badge Staff
Serving as a Wood Badge course staff member is a great way to serve your fellow Scouters by ensuring that they have the same top-quality Wood Badge experience that you received, as well as a way to increase your understanding of the leadership skills, practices and principles presented in the course. It is a lot of fun, but also rigorous, challenging, and a significant investment of time. Specifically, Wood Badge staff members are required to attend a staff orientation (usually 5-6 months prior to the course), three staff development weekends (approximately 90, 60 and 30 days prior to the course), and be present for both weekends, plus (depending on your specific staff assignment) the day prior to each 3-day weekend.
Another fundamental tenant of Wood Badge staff is the each staff member pays his/her own way.
Each Wood Badge course should have about ten new (first time) staff members.
The next Wood Badge course will be in September and October of 2013. Staff members for this course are required to attend:
Orientation (late March/early April 2013 in Culman)
Staff Development 1 (Saturday, May 11th at Camp Sequoyah)
Staff Development 2 (Friday evening and Saturday, June 21st and 22nd at Camp Jackson)
Staff Development 3 (Friday evening and Saturday, August 16th and 17th at Camp Sequoyah)
Weekend 1 (Wednesday evening, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 11th - 14th at Camp Sequoyah)
Weekend 2 (Wednesday evening, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 9th - 12th at Camp Jackson)
The staff fee for this course is $150.
