Come See What's New at University of Scouting for 2015!
New Classes - Several new classes have been added to the catalog, and classes have been reorganized to more closely align with the National BSA Volunteer Training Program - ScoutingU. New classes include Pack Committe Training and Administration, Troop Committee Training and Administration, NOVA Counselor and Supernova Mentor Training, Scoutmaster Specific Training, Venturing Leader Specific Training, CPR Certification, and much more.
More Classes - An extra period has been added for 2015, so you can take six different classes and still enjoy lunch.
ATTENTION CUB SCOUT LEADERS - A complete revision to the Cub Scout program will become effective on June 1st, 2015. Several of our council experienced Cub Scout Leaders have received training on the new program and have prepared a two-hour introduction to the new program which will be presented as CS-411. This course will be offered three times during the day. We strongly encourage all Cub Scout Leaders to attend and register for this class!
Family Program - To make it easier for Cub Scout Leaders to attend, University of Scouting will include a Family Program for Cub-Scout aged youth (ages 6-11). Pre-registration is required, and the program has an additional fee of $15 (which includes lunch) per child. The Family Program will be limited to 24 youth.
Attention All Commissioners: Please plan to pick up your lunch and join Council Commissioner Ron Moore for a Commissioners lunch in the Student Center building conference during third and fourth periods to discuss the new Commissioner Tools and other items of interest.
Smithsonian Exhibit: A travelling Smithsonian exhibit "The Way We Worked" will be on display at the Burrow Center for the Arts in March. By special arrangement, the exhibit hours will be extended on March 14th to allow Scouts and Scouters to visit during or after University of Scouting.
Special Guest: Julie Seton, granddaughter of Ernest Thompson Seton (one of the three founders of the Boy Scouts of America), will be be available to talk about her grandfather and the early days of Scouting in the USA.
Night of Honor - Following University of Scouting, the council will honor the Eagle Scout Class of 2014 and this year's Silver Beaver recipients at the Night of Honor in the Wallace State Auditorium.
